Accountant
REPORTS TO: Senior Accounting Manager
SUPERVISES: None
FLSA STATUS: Salaried, Non-Exempt
Starting wage: $52,200 per year, adjusted by experience and education.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Accountant supports the Senior Accounting Manager and Finance Team by completing journal entries related to all finance disciplines. This position also has primary responsibility for treasury management functions. Support the completion of reconciliations for general ledger accounts ensuring GAAP and internal procedures are implemented and finance operations are completed appropriately. Implement responsibilities and other actions in accordance with ROI’s Core Values and
Vision and Mission Statements as well as generally accepted accounting principles and practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
2. Embraces and supports ROI’s philosophies related to diversity, inclusiveness and anti-racism and works to ensure ROI’s commitment to being an anti-racist organization.
3. Process incoming payments via check, credit card, and electronic funds transfer (EFT).
4. Assist with cash forecasting and daily cash management activities.
5. Assist the Senior Accountant with tracking and reconciling monthly commercial credit card activity in the general ledger.
6. Support the prepaid card program for Representative Payee accounts, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance.
7. Assist in the annual audit for the Representative Payee program.
8. Maintain tenant ledgers for the property management program, ensuring timely updates and accuracy.
9. Provide backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
10. Conduct internal audits of financial processes, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.
11. Maintain grant records and reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
12. Safeguard the confidentiality of all financial data, reports, and sensitive information.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO or CEO.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
1. Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
2. Experience with Financial Edge NXT (preferred).
3. Knowledge of medical billing (CMH) is a plus.
4. Familiarity with Representative Payee Manager is a plus.
5. Experience with payroll systems is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. 2-3 years experience working in financial software. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP). Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal, state and local grant requirements and regulations, and other contractual financial regulations and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively and respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints; work independently as well as part of a team; utilize modern office practices and procedures related to accounting, including: spreadsheet and accounting software programs, and external financial platforms.
