Executive Director of Autism Services

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer 

SUPERVISES: Great Lakes Licensed Settings Coordinator, Great Lakes Outpatient Coordinator, Intensive Treatment Manager, Clinical Psychologist, Outpatient Support Specialist, Outpatient and Licensed Settings Support Specialist,  Business Development Manager, Clinical Director, and all other Great Lakes Center for Autism Treatment and Research Staff 

Starting Salary: $97,750 per year, adjusted for experience

FLSA STATUS: Exempt  

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Design,  provide, and direct the delivery of clinical services to children, adolescents and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities served by the Great Lakes Center for Autism Treatment and Research (GLCATR) in concert with established standards and practice guidelines.  Provide oversight and the vision needed to ensure quality programming and treatment, using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidence-based best practices, within the residential program and outpatient clinic settings of GLCATR and present/publish research data related to program outcomes.  Hire, supervise, and develop the administration and clinical staff.  Perform all duties in accordance with overall program goals, agency policy and procedure and all applicable state, federal and local laws and/or regulations. Implement responsibilities and other actions in accordance with ROI’s Core Values and Vision and Mission Statements. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  1. Provide leadership and direct the development of clinical program services, training, and research.  
  2. Embrace and support ROI’s philosophies related to diversity, inclusiveness and anti-racism and work to ensure ROI’s commitment to being an anti-racist organization.
  3. Provide leadership and design systems for program evaluation, staff management, and provide leadership for presenting/publishing research outcomes. 
  4. Create/modify program policies/procedures to reflect changes in licensing and contractual standards and regulations; ensure all programs/procedures meet current standards. 
  5. Supervisor and monitor team activities in relation to contract compliance, certification, licensing and/or accreditation of programs, including the appropriate response to all inspections, investigations, and external audit/reviews.  
  6. Conduct and assist with the hiring, directing, and evaluation of work of GLC administrative, clinical, and contract staff and evaluate positions within program teams as needed. 
  7. Provide treatment to individuals who exhibit complex behavior disorders and emotional disorders on a consultative basis, as needed.  
  8. Ensure that all clinical programs meet ROI’s and other professional standards. 
  9. Supervise and monitor team activities in an effort to maximize effectiveness of fiscal, HR, and program systems. 
  10. Assist the CFO in developing and monitoring annual program budget as well as revising that budget throughout the year; assist in ensuring the program operates within budget. 
  11. Develop and oversee billing systems that allows for billing to be submitted in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner; ensure that the appropriate documentation exists to support billing.  
  12. Serve as the program’s liaison between Western Michigan University’s Psychology Department faculty, staff, interns and other agencies. 
  13. Direct and oversee the implementation of the relevant quality enhancement, strategic plan, outcomes plan, and program goals of the greater agency. 
  14. Comply with all laws and regulations regarding reporting suspected abuse and neglect of vulnerable persons and investigate allegations of rights violations. 
  15. Adhere to the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. 
  16. Provide the CEO, COO, and the Board of Director with information to allow them to make timely decisions about new and existing programs and opportunities. 
  17. Direct and assist in the marketing and promotion of services and employment opportunities offered by GLC.  
  18. Maintain the confidentiality of all restricted information, data and reports.  
  19. Complete all other tasks as assigned by the COO or CEO.  

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, or allied discipline which includes graduate level coursework in basic principles of behavior, applied behavior analysis, and research methodology; with Board Certification as Behavior Analyst or eligible for certification. Minimum 5 years of clinical experience implementing evidence-based procedures and treatment for individuals with challenging behaviors, individuals with experience in residential programs preferred.  Possess the analytical skills necessary to design, plan, prioritize, implement and measure clinical treatment programs.  Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.  Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with staff, clients, interdisciplinary team members and families.  Ability to lead group activities, as well as work on a one-to-one basis with individual clients.  Ability to identify changes in client clinical conditions and adjust activities accordingly.  Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when administering treatments, observing client behaviors, and recording notes.  Valid driver’s license and ability to complete crisis intervention training and perform those tasks as needed.  Ability to attend (including providing own transportation) work-related obligations throughout the community.  

PREFERRED: PhD and minimum of two years of experience in a Michigan child caring institution or out-of-state/Canadian Province equivalent; able to legally hold position as chief administrator per the BCAL regulations.
